Details:Dimension C521: Athlon 64 X2, 512MB, 80GB, 17" LCD for $399
Another inexpensive Dell desktop computer deal with monitor.
  • AMD Athlon 64 X2 3600+ Dual Core CPU.
  • Windows Vista Home
  • 512MB memory
  • 80GB hard drive
  • DVD-ROM drive
  • 17" VGA-only monitor
  • 1 year warranty
Price comes to $399 with free shipping. This is the "slim" desktop computer model, which is smaller and looks cooler than a standard desktop computer. The downside is future upgrades to the computer are limited because of its small size. It is easy to upgrade the memory by adding DDR2 modules to its 4 memory slots, but you cannot add a second hard drive, and you can only install "slim-line" or "low profile" PCI and PCI-Express cards. More information on the inside of the computer can be seen in their manual.

If you change the bundled monitor to a 20" Dell E207WFP Widescreen monitor for $90 more, you may also want to add one of their ATI Radeon X1300 low-profile cards which come with a DVI port for another $40 or $90. That comes to $529 or $579, still a good deal since the 20" monitor's value is around $200 by itself. The Radeon X1300 Pro for $90 more is actually a very good deal, since low-profile X1300 Pro cards usually cost over $100.

For regular size desktop computers, here are some other fairly good deals each with a 20" monitor:
  • Dimension E521 from Dell Business, configured with Athlon 64 X2 3600+ Dual Core CPU, Windows Vista Home, 1GB memory, 80GB hard drive, CD-RW/DVD-ROM Drive, Dell E207WFP 20" Widescreen LCD, 256MB Nvidia Geforce 7300LE with DVI, 1 year warranty for $549.
  • Dimension E521 from Dell Home, configured with AMD Athlon 64 X2 4000+ Dual Core CPU, Windows Vista Premium, Dell E207WFP 20" Widescreen LCD, 1GB memory, 160GB hard drive, CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive, Nvidia Geforce 6150 LE graphics, 1 year warranty for $609. Same as the previous Dimension E521, with a faster CPU, larger hard drive, and Vista Premium. Consider upgrading the graphics card to get digital DVI output to the monitor.
  • Dimension 9200 from Dell Business, configured with Core 2 Duo 1.86GHz CPU on 1066MHz bus, Windows Vista Home, 1GB memory, 160GB hard drive, DVD-ROM, Dell 207WFP 20" LCD Widescreen monitor, Geforce 7300LE with DVI, and 1 year warranty for $729. You can save $30 with a Core 2 Duo CPU running on 800MHz bus, but the faster system bus improves performance enough to easily justify the price. This computer is identical to a XPS 410 sold in Dell Home, where they charge $300 more for a similar configuration. One of the few Dimensions capable of a Geforce 7950 PCIe graphics card.
Also, some coupons are available for notebook computers listed on this Dell Home Inspirons page:
  • $300 off $999+ in Inspiron notebook computers, code: 1H0BMD78L6?HF9
  • $450 off $1499+ in Inspiron notebook computers, code: XPGH$C57$L1$F5
